Summer Conferences Stu StaffConferences & Visitor Services (C&VS) provides administrative and logistical support to clients who want to host a conference or event at the University of Maryland. We coordinate a full range of campus services that includes meeting space reservations, transportation, dining, on-campus lodging, and much more. During the summer, we host adult/youth conferences, athletic camps, special events, and University of Maryland academic programs. Employees will have the opportunity to work with various service providers and campus departments (i.e. Dining Services, Resident Life, Transportation Services, The Stamp, etc.) to ensure the seamless operation of each conference.

Position Descriptions

Our preferences for these positions are that you possess a valid driver’s license and are currently a student at, or recent graduate of, the University of Maryland. Below is a listing of C&VS student supervisory positions.

To apply for these positions, you must be a current student at the University of Maryland and not graduate in May. Below is a listing of the C&VS Assistant positions.


How To Apply

Applications for summer assistant positions are now closed. Applicants will be notified of their hiring decision no later than April 15, 2024.

Please follow this checklist to ensure that you fully complete the application process to be considered for a position:
  1. Ensure that you meet the minimum requirements as listed in the job description(s).
  2. Complete the online application by March 29, 2024.
  3. Keep an eye out in your @umd.edu e-mail account for a confirmation e-mail stating that you have been added to the ELMS Course: C&VS Employment. This should occur within two (2) business days.
  4. Log into the course at elms.umd.edu with your directory ID and password to complete your video interview.
  5. Assistant decisions are made on a rolling basis, with final decisions concluding by April 14th.

Applications for summer supervisor positions are now closed.

Please follow this checklist to ensure that you fully complete the application process to be considered for a position:

  1. Ensure that you meet the minimum requirements as listed in the job description(s).
  2. Attend a mandatory Information Session.
  3. Complete the online application and submit your recommendation form.
  4. Keep an eye out in your @umd.edu e-mail account for a confirmation e-mail stating that you have been added to the ELMS Course: C&VS Employment. This should occur within two (2) business days.
  5. Log into the course at elms.umd.edu with your directory ID and password to complete your video interview.
  6. Supervisor applicants will be notified by February 28th if they move onto the second round, which is a group interview. Those who move on, will attend a group interview on either March 6th or 7th starting at 5:00 p.m. Please hold these dates on your calendar, should you be offered a group interview.
  7. Final decisions for supervisor positions will be sent via e-mail on March 11th.

C&VS Information Sessions

Conferences & Visitor Services Information Sessions are available to interested students that want to learn more about our department, available positions, and operations. Information sessions provide prospective employees an opportunity to meet with current professional and student employees to learn about our summer conference operation, the job responsibilities, and have the opportunity to ask questions.

Information Sessions are mandatory for supervisor applicants and recommended/voluntary for assistant applicants.

The Summer 2024 Information Session locations are still being determined. Dates and times are listed below, locations will be added as soon as they are confirmed.
